AXISCameraStationprovidesaquickwaytoaddcamerasandtocongureandenablerecording:
1.Selectcamerasandvideoencoderstoadd.SeeAddCameras.
2.Selectrecordingmethodandwheretostorerecordings.SeeCongureRecording.
3.ReviewsettingsandclickFinishtoaddcamerasandstartrecording.
Allsettingscanbechangedlater,seeCongureAXISCameraStation,onpage11.
AddCameras
AXISCameraStationautomaticallysearchesthenetworkforconnectedcamerasanddisplaysalistofcamerasfound.Usethe
Typetosearcheldtondcamerasinthelist.
1.Selectthecamerastoadd.AcameracanbeaddedifitsStatuseldisempty.Forinformationaboutdifferentstatusesand
howtosolveproblems,seethebuilt-inhelp.
2.Tochangethecameraname,clickonthenameinthelistandenteranewname.
3.ClickNexttocontinue.
4.Ifsomecamerasdonothaveapassword,Entercamerapasswordisdisplayed.Enterapasswordandre-enteritto
conrmthespelling.Thepasswordwillbesetonallcamerasthatdonothaveapassword.Thepasswordisusedby
AXISCameraStationtocommunicatewiththecameras.Makesuretouseastrongpassword.
Ifacameracannotbefound:
•Checkthatthecameraisconnectedtothenetworkandthatpowerhasbeenapplied.ThenclickSearchAgaintorepeat
thesearch.Itisalsopossibletoaddcamerasmanually.ClickAddManuallyandenterthecamera’sIPaddressorhost
name.Ifthecameradoesnotusethedefaultport80,theportnumbermustalsobespecied.
•IfAXISCameraStationClient,AXISCameraStationServerand/orcamerasarelocatedondifferentnetworks,thenproxy
andrewallsettingsmightneedtobecongured.SeeNetworkandSecurityConguration,onpage60.
CongureRecording
Onthe“CongureRecording”page,selectrecordingmethodandwheretostorerecordings.Allrecordingsettingscanalsobe
changedlater.
Theselectedrecordingmethodandtheotherrecordingsettingswillbeenabledonallselectedcameras.Videowillberecordedin
videoformatH.264ifsupportedbythecamera.
1.Selectrecordingmethod:
-Motionrecording—Recordvideowhenmotionisdetected.Whenacameradetectsamovingobject,
AXISCameraStationwillstartrecordvideofromthatcamera.Recordingcontinuesuntilmotionstops.
-Continuousrecording—Recordvideocontinuously.Continuousrecordingrequiresmorediskspacethan
motionrecording.
-Iwanttocongurethislater—Donotenablerecording.
2.Selectthenumberofdaystokeeprecordings,orselectUnlimitedtokeeprecordingsuntilthediskisfull.
3.UnderRecordinglocation,selectthediskstostorerecordingson:
-Drivesonthelocalcomputer.Itisnotrecommendedtousethediskonwhichtheoperatingsystemisinstalled.
